Capo Carbonara MPA (Sardinia)
Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area is located in the south-eastern Sardinia. A number of rocky islets and submerged reefs are scattered all around the coast, washed by both the Sardinian Channel and the Southern Tyrrhenian Sea and it has different degrees of exposure to winds and waves. Rocky granitic cliffs alternate with large and small beach systems and a small lagoon, an important wetland for migratory birds. The presence of particular granitic morphologies as well as rhodolith beds and extensive Posidonia oceanica meadows increase the seascape value and offer a number of niches for marine flora and fauna.
